The Amazing Octopus
By Jordan, 3rd Grade
Check out these cool facts about the octopus.
- Octopi are the smartest invertebrates. They are so smart they can get a clam from a sealed jar if they can smell the clam!
- Octopi can camouflage. To do it, they use chromatophores which are small cells on their skin. They squeeze muscles together and the color changes.
- Octopi can grow back their arms if they lose one. In about 3 months, they will have a brand new one.
These facts came from wikipedia and animal-wildlife.blogspot.com.
Jordan – I think I knew octopi could change colors, but I never knew how! Cool facts! Can you imagine what it’d be like to move like that? I watched a video about a kind of octopus that use coconut shells like armor! and another that can open glass jars to get out some food. Watch these videos:

Octopi are really neat and it was great to read about how they change color. I wonder if they would make a good pet or if they would get into trouble around the house looking for interesting things to do and eat.
